POWER UK OFFSHORE WIND MINI CONFERENCE

This conference provided a comprehensive update on offshore wind energy around the North Sea.
  • The first session provided an overview of the current state of the offshore wind industry in North Sea regions, withexpert speakersfromGermany, Denmark and the UK.
  • The second part gave an outlook to future issues related to offshore wind energy, such as grid connection andoffshore wind hybrids.
  • The event also provided an overview of the achievements of the POWER initiative and gave an update on the progress of the built of OrbisEnergy, the prestigious new offshore renewable energy business hub being built in Lowestoft.

The conference was chaired by Maria McCaffery, Chief Executive of the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) and featured presentations from Wind Energy Agency  Bremerhaven/Bremen, Offshore Centre Denmark, John Westwood of Douglas-Westwood Ltd., Airtricity, ode and Suffolk County Council. It attracted nearly 100 delegates, from as far afield as Scotland, Norway and Germany.
The conference launched the brochure "Offshore Wind - The North Sea Connection: POWER in the East of England". The brochure is available for download (hard copies available on request from michael.moll@suffolkcc.gov.uk)
