EEEGr Summer Conference 2007, in Norwich. Industry skills, North Sea gas, engineering diversification, renewables and security of supply are amongst the hot topics at EEEGR07'. Speakers include John Westwood, Managing Director, Douglas Westood Ltd and David Edwards OBE, Chief Executive, SLP Engineering Ltd. Michael Wilder of Petans will do a presentation about POWER, providing a private sector perspective to the POWER North Sea Competence Network.

The UK POWER Mini Conference in Lowestoft will provide an overview of offshore wind developments in Germany, Denmark and the UK, will showcase the achievements of the POWER network, and will provide an update on the OrbisEnergy project. For more information click here

Offshore Wind Master Class at Lowestoft College. The master class will feature training sessions led by experts working in the offshore wind sector in the UK, the Netherlands and Germany. Training sessions will explore the key aspects of offshore wind

 

including: the UK offshore wind market, constructing, operating and maintaining offshore wind farms, turbine support structures

 

and foundation technologies, electrical generation technologies alongside safety training for the marine environment. The master class is open to companies already involved or interested in becoming part of the offshore wind industry and students studying engineering at college or university in the POWER regions. It is offered at an introductary rate of £150 for businesses and £75 for students.

All Energy 2007. POWER invites companies and organisations to visit its stand at All Energy 2007 in Aberdeen, the largest renewable energy exhibition ever held in the UK. POWER will have its own small exhibition stand, integrated within the East of England Stand D6 which will showcase more than 20 companies mainly from the offshore renewables supply chain. POWER Business Breakfast in Lowestoft, United Kingdom

30 March 2006: Offshore wind energy in the North Sea Region; an event with presentations by Douglas-Westwood Ltd and DENA Businesses and stakeholders has been invited to join the POWER partners at a business breakfast, providing a North Sea wide perspective on offshore wind energy. Douglas-Westwood Ltd presented findings of an international North Sea supply chain study for offshore wind, and DENA (German Energy Agency) outlined considerations of a best practise analysis of offshore wind farm developments in 5 North Sea countries. Also, a brief overview of other POWER activities has been provided. The event was part of the 4th transnational meeting of the POWER partnership, with experts from 5 North Sea countries attending. It is jointly organised by EEEGr and the POWER project.

POWER partner Offshore Center Danmark is inviting to a conference focusing on prediction of scour development around offshore wind turbine foundations.

The conference will take place in Esbjerg, Denmark on February 9th 2006. Visitors to the conference will also get a chance to meet POWER partners and hear more about the project.

POWER at Copenhagen Offshore Wind
POWER was represented at the World's largest offshore wind event: Copenhagen Offshore Wind. The combined conference and fair, based on initiative from POWER partner Offshore Center Danmark (OCD), was visited by 3,252 visitors in total. More than 100 exhibitors were represented - POWER being one of them. The supply chain studies developed under POWER was presented by OCD at a well visited Speakers Corner area of the fair. Copenhagen Offshore Wind took place October 26-28 and the success is planned to be repeated December 5-7 2007.

POWER's regional supply chain studies were presented within the Symposium programme of HusumWind, the world’s largest wind energy trade fair. POWER’s supply chain consultants John Westwood, Roger Heidmann and Allan Christensen had an appreciative audience to present their findings.
