POWER SUPPLY CHAIN/ ECONOMIC ISSUES

Presentations from the POWER UK Mini Conference (11/09/2007, Lowestoft) now available

POWER creates a North Sea competence network for offshore wind energy
The POWER project unites leading offshore wind energy regions in the Southern North Sea. The project assesses environmental and planning as well as acceptance issues of offshore wind farms, supports the development of a reliable supply chain for the sector, and elaborates skills development measures. 37 organisations take part, with representatives from Germany, the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands and Belgium.
All partner regions face similar problems and opportunities in the sector. A strength of the partnership is the combination of regional expertise in onshore wind energy and in offshore oil and gas industries, which makes exchange of experience and best practise particularly beneficial.

Cooperation on Supply chain/economic issues

Objective
Through POWER, globally leading offshore wind energy regions are cooperating on offshore wind supply chain issues. Together, these regions can offer full capabilities through the whole of the offshore wind supply chain.
POWER is gathering additional knowledge about the offshore wind supply chain in the Southern North Sea Region, and establishes strong networks between leading offshore wind support organisations and businesses of the sector.

Main activities
  • Practical cooperation and exchange of experience between business support and networking organisations
  • regional and transnational supply chain studies for the offshore wind industry
  • business networking events and generally facilitating business networking opportunities between the POWER regions
